Ghostwriting

Have you always wanted to write a book? Or maybe there’s a professional article, how-to guide, white paper or company report you’re anxious to start but you just can’t seem to find the time. Let Barten & Associates’ ghostwriting services make your dream of becoming a published author a reality.

What is a ghostwriter?

A ghostwriter is a professional writer who helps his or her clients by turning their ideas, experiences or life histories into a book-length manuscript or other agreed-upon format (article, how-to guide, report, etc.).

A ghostwriter may be hired as a completely behind-the-scenes participant in the process (sacrificing byline cover credit for additional compensation), as a secondary author (typically a “with” credit on the book’s cover) or as a full co-author. Depending on the nature of the contract, ghostwriters receive either a flat fee for their services or an hourly writing and editing fee, and potentially a share of publisher advances and/or royalties, as negotiated prior to beginning work.

Who uses a ghostwriter?

You may be surprised to learn that an estimated one-half of all books are ghostwritten. In fact, as many confidential ghosts are never disclosed, the figure may be significantly higher. Carolyn Keene, for example, of the famous Nancy Drew mysteries, was actually a pseudonym representing a number of authors who wrote various volumes in the same style. Everyone from political leaders and entertainment professionals to your local company president are likely to use a ghostwriter in some capacity at some point in their career to assist them with the time-consuming task of writing.

Relationships matter.

When selecting a ghostwriter, your working relationship with the writer is critical. Many projects require multiple interviews and the sharing of confidential personal or professional information. And any project is a large investment of time and money, not to mention your valuable insights on your topic of choice. At Barten & Associates, LLC, we are here to confidentially and ethically assist you through the entire process, acting as a partner you can trust with your most delicate of projects. We have ghost authored business/management books for industry leaders, how-to guides for professionals interested in sharing their craft, creative inspiration books for artists and other creatives, life histories and more.
